![]() ![]() ![]() Dps needs to be just about equal on both, or the side with less dps will have their Halion healing himself and dealing more damage, as he is pushed further into that realm. Haslion exists in both realms, and the raid must split into two one fights him in the shadow realm, and the other fights him in the physical realm. Every once in a while, a death beam will come out of the two, connecting them and dealing enough damage to instantly kill you to any player in the beam. Also, two shadow orbs circle around the edges of the stage. In the shadow realm, Halion still has his breath and Mark of Combustion, but they do shadow damage instead of fire damage. ![]() Halion shifts to the shadow realm, and summons a portal which players can use to enter as well. Players afflicted have to move to the edge of the stage then get the debuff removed, before running back to the raid. When the debuff ends or when it is removed, a patch forms under the player's feet that deals damage to players in it. He also puts a debuff on random players called Mark of Combustion. All players must move away from the flames that spread from the patch. Any player under it must move out before the fireball hits. ![]() The location where the fireball will hit is indicated by a hellfire graphic. He also summons fireballs, which fall from the sky and hit a large area with fire damage, leaving a patch of flame where it hit, as well as four flames going in the four directions out of the fire patch. Unlike most dragon bosses, he does not have a tail swipe or cleave. Halion might not be a DPS race, but you can't exactly waltz in there with T9/heroic dungeon gear and think you can down the boss easily.Halion has three phases, in which the raid must switch between the physical realm and the shadow realm.Ī few seconds after being engaged, Halion summons a wall of flame in a circle around him, closing off any players not in the stage. (And I only call those players unsuitable because no amount of player skill makes up for very low level gear. I just don't see the point in stalling the group for that long in search of unsuitable ranged DPS that is just going to wipe them in P3 when there's nothing but melee in trade and they've all got their RS achievements. shammy for hero/bloodlust, holy pally/disc priest for tank heals). I also have nothing against a good group composition or wanting a very specific kind of player (e.g. There usually is ranged DPS in the groups I've been in, and it makes the fight a lot simpler for heroic mode and for 25 man debuff management. I have nothing against ranged DPS in Halion. And that's something that's problematic no matter what realm it's in, it's usually the reason for a wipe if it's not half the raid dying to cutters. It's a lot worse if melee drops a shadow debuff in the middle of other melee than if it happened in the fire realm. Well, melee have debuffs in shadow too, and in shadow they suck people in instead of doing a knockback at best (on top of the damage from standing in it). WTF is so special about ranged on this fight?! And it especially annoys me that I see half a dozen melee DPS look for RS raids with the one or two people advertising in trade that they're looking for ranged for a good half hour, completely ignoring the melee that met their original GS/achievement requirements. In fact, it's a very unforgiving fight for ranged DPS in general, and not even Meteor Strikes make it a bad thing for melee to be out in fire. The worst case scenario is Meteor Strikes on melee, and that's still peanuts compared to shadow realm.Īm I just missing something? I can't think of a single thing in Halion on normal that almost begs for ranged DPS the way some fights in ICC do. I can DPS in P3 fire realm just as well as I can in shadow, thank you very much. One of those raids even included someone I know that said the RL decided to bring in some way undergeared and inexperienced mage that's barely done a couple bosses in ToC/ICC10 over me just because of the ranged/melee thing. I am a little annoyed that tonight is the third time in almost as many weeks that I couldn't join a normal RS raid because they're "full on melee", whatever that means. It seems all the people looking for more in trade on my server for normal Ruby Sanctum 10/25 are obsessed with three things: gearscore, achievements, and a balance between ranged and melee DPS. ![]()
